Large scale cyclones are used in sawmills to remove sawdust from extracted air. Cyclones are also used in oil refineries to separate oils and gases, and in the cement industry as components of kiln preheaters. Cyclones are increasingly used in the household, as the core technology in bagless types of portable vacuum cleaners and central vacuum cleaners. Industrial cyclone dust collectors are used alone or with other dust collectors in many applications. Imperial Systems’ cyclones feature many options that certainly make them the best choice for your unique challenges. As a result of careful design, our cyclones feature almost any required CFM for any type of material. H.E. Cyclones are available in either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation of air flow. The inlet and outlet are flanged. Transitions are also available as an option. Forsbergs also manufactures 6” and 8” airlocks for the H.E. Cyclone, which allow a continuous, controlled material discharge with a minimal loss of air.

It is also possible to install cyclones in series, or, in parallel. Separators can be installed with a horizontal or vertical orientation. Gas Cyclone Separators. Gas cyclone separators are grouped into two main categories, reverse-flow and axial-flow. Industrial Cyclones. Industrial Cyclones are a technology that uses cyclonic separation as its method of removing particulates from an air, gas or liquid stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation.

Design of High Efficiency Cyclone for Tiny Cement Industry Niki Gopani and Akshey Bhargava International Journal of Environmental Science and Development, Vol. 2, No. 5, October D2=mean diameter of the particle separated in.

Kice CK cyclones are completely welded with angle ring reinforcing. They are designed for industrial applications that handle – 50, CFM. Tests prove that Kice CK cyclones are as efficient as most “high efficiency cyclones” available in today’s market. However, Kice CK cyclones have a minimal pressure drop (” wc).

Other. Cyclones are commonly used in agricultural processing as primary particulate emission abatement devices. A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of one, two, three, or four 1D3D cyclones, in series, on airstreams heavily loaded ( g/m3) with particulate (mass median diameter cyclone was consistently less efficient Cited by: 8.

Hydrocyclones continue to widen their appeal to engineers; besides their traditional role in mineral processing they now attract a lot of attention in chemical engineering, the oil and gas industry, power generation, the food industry, textiles, metal working, waste water treatment, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and other industries.

Cyclones for other applications (e.g. industrial hygiene or pharmaceutical) are usually custom designed, but they are based on the same principles. The table below lists some of the standard designs. Generally they are grouped into 3 classes: high efficiency, medium efficiency and general purpose.

Principle and Working: A high speed rotating (air)flow is established within a cylindrical or conical container called a cyclone. Air flows in a spiral pattern, beginning at the top (wide end) of the cyclone and ending at the bottom (narrow) end before exiting the cyclone in a straight stream through the center of the cyclone and out the top.
