Here is a book that deals with this problem. It is necessary that this problem be studied and action taken to prevent despoliation of the aquifers where this water is now found, because once contaminated an aquifer is difficult to decontaminate. Nonpoint source pollution management models for regional groundwater quality control. This book is designed to review present knowledge and experience regarding the assessment and control of nonpoint source pollution. The intention is to be practical and to be applicable in developed and developing countries. It is concerned primarily with nonpoint source pollution from agriculture, urban construction and forested areas, including the health of aquatic ecosystems and human use.

The chapters and appendices in this book complement this material by providing guidance for developing an experimental design, methods for the collection of samples and their analysis, various other field evaluation efforts, and the statistical analysis of the data.

Much of this progress, however, has resulted from controlling point. An evaluation of the Wisconsin Nonpoint Source Water Pollution Abatement program concluded that "despite the size and sophistication of Wisconsin's NPS program, there is little if any improvement.

Water resources are the foundation for Wisconsin’s economy, environment and quality of life. Managing, conserving and restoring them for the benefit of Wisconsin citizens now and in the future is a big job, and one that DNR staff share with local governments, citizens and businesses.

The monitoring group should select parameters based upon their monitoring objectives and their particular situation. Data Types Many types of data may be required for nonpoint source monitoring and evaluation depending upon the program and the monitoring and evaluation goals and objectives.
